Car Dealership Sign FAQ’s
Car dealership outdoor signs are one of Mega LED Technology’s top requests. Dealerships were one of the first industries to embrace LED car advertising signs because they deliver rapid and measurable results.
No more being limited to a printed sign as you can add crystal-clear HD videos, images, and targeted ads. Even life-size ads!
Did you know that Car Dealership signs have been proven to be the most cost-effective form of advertising when it comes to attracting attention from passerby’s and from road traffic?
It’s true. In fact, the Small Business Administration states that LED signs can boost sales by up to 150% according to recent research.
Not only that, effective LED signage has been shown to reach up to 70% of the general public while greatly increasing brand awareness—to the tune of 86%.
Needless to say, when it comes to bottom-line business results, LED signs are a no brainer for car dealerships. Car Dealership signs are going to aid your efforts in attracting attention, building brand awareness, and ultimately winning new customers.

Car dealership signs are made to order, in either a square or rectangular shape. This means that you can order any size you like. Maybe a full billboard to place in a high-traffic area, an oversized sign at your main entrance, a video wall inside your dealership, and a series of standing interior signs in your showroom to highlight individual vehicle specs. Your options are endless!
This is entirely up to you! Work with your sales and marketing team to determine your signage goals, including your interior, exterior, on-site, and offsite signage mix.
Don’t forget that you can layer your signs in a custom arrangement. For example, you may layer a Premier or Alpha sign for HD photos and videos under an LED logo sign—with a Versa scrolling sign as the third tier.
Some larger dealerships have exterior Car Dealership signs outside as well as multiple LED displays indoors. Consider showcasing your best sellers, and their stats with your new Car Dealership signs, the sky and your imagination are the limit.
Don’t forget to factor in if you want to double up your signs so that they can be viewed from both directions.

It’s not hard! You aren’t just ordering a sign with mounting, but also the software required to update your sign from anywhere with internet access. Like all new software you and your team will need to learn your way around, but the software is designed to be intuitive.
Quickly and easily schedule new messages, designs, ads, photos, and videos. This includes pre-scheduling messages for the time of day and day of the week, determining how long each message displays, and how to rotate messages. If a featured vehicle is sold it only takes a few seconds to remove it from the rotation.
Yes! Each sign is custom-built to include components that operate without disruption in rain, snow, ice, dry heat, humidity, and temperatures that drop below zero. Our signs are temperature tested to ensure full function from 160 degrees Fahrenheit to -40. From Midwest winters to Death Valley, we have you covered!

LED signs are bright and vibrant, and easily visible both day and night. The precise visibility depends on the size of your sign. The larger your sign, the greater the visibility. Dealers often choose billboards and other oversized signs that have a viewing range of around 200 feet. Your indoor signs may have a significantly shorter viewing range but will be easy to view from throughout the showroom.
You and your team can quickly and easily create text-only messages for your signs, with fun graphics, color, and special effects. You can also add standard information such as the date, time, and weather.
When it comes to your photo and video signs, you may have a creative team member who can curate your HD photos and videos—and design your ads. If you don’t have anyone in-house, ask your current design firm if they create digital displays, but you may also need to work with someone who specializes in digital ad design. This ensures designs are properly sized for oversized displays.
Really think outside of the box, maybe using a drone to take a 360-degree virtual tour of your featured vehicles.

There are a few factors that contribute to how your new sign will be mounted, and anything over standard TV size will require professional mounting.
Scrolling Versa signs can be mounted on walls, windows, or a custom base.
If your digital sign is small or medium it can be mounted to a wall or building exterior that has been deemed sturdy.
All signs can be mounted on a custom base, but oversized and billboards require a sturdy base. Billboards are mounted on a steel pole, but oversized signs can also be mounted on a steel frame, brick base, or brick or steel column. We offer a few standard options, but custom bases can be designed for you. Your base is also where electrical components are stored.
If you will be layering more than one sign, a custom frame is also required.
Your new signs are 30% more energy-efficient than fluorescent or incandescent signs. You can operate your signs 24 hours per day or turn them off at night. Cleaning is easy, all you need is a standard microfiber cloth and an electronics-safe cleaning solution to wipe the exterior. With proper maintenance, your sign will last approximately 11 years/100,000 hours.
You will need to identify a local LED technician to perform an annual inspection and as-needed repairs. Annual inspection includes periodic interior cleaning (which you should not complete yourself), and checking the connectors, components, and hardware.
The only other expense is your digital designs. Both your designs and sign should pay for themselves!

Billboards are a popular option for car dealerships, but you may avoid print billboards due to their high risk of vandalism. While most print billboards have an access scaffolding built-in, digital billboards don’t. This means the likelihood of vandalism takes a nosedive because there is no easy way to access the sign. MEGA’s signs are also vandal proof, meaning it could take hard hits with a baseball bat, and graffiti washes right off thanks to our linoleum coating finish.
Your signs can be placed in any securely mounted and approved location. Internally it can be placed anywhere it can be securely mounted. Externally, you will need to check with local ordinances to ensure you have the appropriate license or permit.
Think outside of the box and consider placing offsite digital signs. Maybe a billboard along the freeway which could be monetized to feature other local businesses or reserved just for your vehicle ads and inventory.

10 Reasons You need Car Dealership signs

Signage is essential in every industry but in some industries, signs are more vital to sales and success. This is certainly true for car dealership outdoor signs, which is why you must consider upgrading to an LED option. You can change the content of your new digital signs any time you like. Here are a few of our top suggestions.
1. Informative Exterior Signage
Even with strategically placed exterior signs letting those passing by know you are a dealership, customers may not understand all you have to offer. Consider a double or triple stacked sign. Your new digital logo sign will be brighter, more vibrant, and easier to see from many blocks away. Then stack one or two more signs beneath, that alternate between a variety of targeted messages.
This could include information about sales, promotions, 0% interest or interest rates, that you sell both new and used cars, flat-rate lease pricing, service center deals, and more. This one signage change can rapidly increase your daily walk-ins.
2. Highlight Your Inventory
Your new sign is far more versatile than posters and standard marketing POP in that you aren’t limited to a single image. Car dealers, both new and used, experience a decreased sales time every time they post a photo and details of one of the cars on their lot in a life-like LED sign.
This could be the newest make and model, a sports car, family sedan, commercial vehicle, or a quality used car. Don’t just post the photo of the car, but the price, interest rate, year, make, model, features, and other essential information buyers want to know.
3. Life-Size Vehicle Displays
Your new Car Dealership Outdoors Signs can be ordered in custom sizes, including signs large enough to create a life-size vehicle display. You can order one over-sized sign to place in a window or on an interior or exterior wall, or a series of smaller signs that can be used to create a life-size vehicle display. This digital option stands out from blocks away and is far more memorable than a standard poster. Cycle through multiple cars on your lot, or a specialty vehicle that really wows.
4. Vehicle-Specific Signage
Even if you’ve trained your sales team to be down to earth and you don’t employ any of the standard car salesman tactics that often make buyers uncomfortable—buyers may still be intimidated walking into your dealership. One way to ease their anxiety is to utilize your signage to answer some of their questions.
This might be placing smaller signs next to each vehicle running through the specs and most frequently asked questions about the featured vehicle. Yes, there is a paper sign in the window, but well-designed vehicle-specific signage is far more engaging and user-friendly.
5. Vehicle Videos

Highlight a car from the inside out by displaying a vehicle explainer video. This might be a video provided by the automotive brand, or one you shoot in-house. If not a video, create an image slideshow. This can include a 360-degree view of the vehicle, the dashboard, the engine, trunk, designer tires and rims, if the seats move, smart features and functions, and more. Dedicate at least one slide to highlighting the vehicle’s best features.
6. Dealership Videos
Videos are an excellent way to engage customers, so use them to brand your dealership. This includes highlighting your staff, featuring your service center, and providing a virtual tour of your lot and showroom. Be sure to include a few photos of happy customers in their new car and share some of your positive online reviews or testimonials. For example, a photo of the 3 generations of a family who continue to purchase all their vehicles from your dealership. Yes, this same video can be used as part of your online marketing.
7. Off-Site Billboards And Signage

Billboards and off-site signage are a common way for car dealerships to expand their brand awareness, but why be limited to a static sign? Consider renting land to place a billboard or a signage spot on the side of a building in a strategic location to drive more targeted traffic. The advantage is that you can switch the sign out remotely from any location or alternate through a series of signs each day.
For example, feature family cars in the morning while parents are driving their kids to school. Since the sign is yours it may be a more affordable way to post year-round or long-term advertisements.
8. Reach Every Demographic
Your new Car Dealership signs are an excellent way to reach every price-range of customer you serve. For example, you line the main roads with new and shiny vehicles—meaning some customers might not be aware that you sell used vehicles too. Or maybe you sell service vans and mid-sized commercial vehicles too. Or maybe you are a used car lot that caters to budget drivers, but sell a handful of luxury vehicles that customers might not be aware of. Use your new car dealership signs to highlight that you have something for everyone.
9. Highlight Your Service Center
Utilize at least a sign or two to drive more traffic to your service center and automotive repair center. For example, you could highlight your fleet management services. Or share that you service non-dealer brand vehicles and share your current sales and promotions. Post seasonal car maintenance suggestions and how you can help. This is an excellent way to attract the attention of customers who haven’t purchased from you as well as increase the frequency of current service center customers.
10. Artful Displays
A lot of dealers place pillar-style digital signs in strategic locations throughout their exterior lot and showroom. Maybe surrounding one of your luxury cars. These artful displays can feature creative graphics, text, or function more as a lighting display that attracts consumer attention. The sky is the limit here so be creative.
