Businesses across every industry are adding digital signs to their marketing mix to improve brand awareness, improve engagement, and increase sales and upsells. From government offices to fitness centers, flower shops, small boutiques, restaurants, churches, hotels, schools, insurance companies, car dealerships, gas stations, and multi-use buildings. Every corner of the retail and service market is now introducing custom commercial digital signage as a way of gaining brand recognition and drive their potential clients and customers through their doors.
In addition to marketing, digital signs are effective communication tools that can be used in lobby directories and to answer FAQs. Animated signage can also share office memos, safety reminders, and COVID-19 protocols. Here’s what you need to know!
How Do I Program My Digital Signage?
Programming your sign is easy! Scrolling signs come with a remote control that has a text keyboard to quickly type in your new messaging. Make your text stand out with over 300 stored images and animations, 38 character functions, and 32 special effects.
All our Digital signs come with scheduling software to create text, and upload HD videos, images, motion graphics, and digital ads. Once you get the hang if it, its just like any other software or app, it becomes increasingly easy to change your message. Preschedule when to post each message, what order to alternate your messages, and how long to rest on each image before moving to the next—typically between 3 and 10 seconds, is a breeze.
How can I use digital signage to communicate with employees?
Add a digital sign in your lobby or break room and alternate between a “Good Morning” message, inspirational quote, or send off message. Post the latest memo. Share safety updates and protocols. Share project statistics. Highlight the new hires or an employee of the month. Post the daily schedule. Share an instructional video. Post your Mission, Vision, and Values. Your options are endless.
What are the benefits of digital signage?
Digital signs have an impressive 83% recall rate and capture 400% more views than static signs. Digital Signs also increase brand awareness by between 47% to 86% depending on the industry and location of the sign. When messages are engaging and strategically placed, they can reduce perceived wait times by 35%. They increase upsells and overall sales by between 30% and 150% depending on the industry and location of the sign. It is estimated that 1 out of 5 workplace disasters can be prevented by adding a digital sign with a video or protocol reminder, improving health and safety—while reducing insurance claims.
How much does Digital Signage cost?
Your new sign will be made to order and the price will vary greatly depending on your customizable features. Customizable features include the viewing distance, functionality, size of your sign, how it is mounted, if it has a frame, and if it is one or two-sided. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us for an absolutely free quote with no sales pressure or pesky sales reps. MEGA also never sells any of your information to any third party marketers or distributors – ever.
Ongoing costs are minimal, and include cleaning the sign, and the cost of electricity. Protect your investment with an annual inspection performed by a local LED technician to check the connectors, components, and hardware. They will also perform periodic interior cleaning, which you should not perform yourself.
Is Digital Signage energy efficient?
Yes! LED stands for light emitting diode and is among the most efficient forms of lighting available. LED signs are 30% more energy-efficient than fluorescent lights and up to 75% as efficient as incandescent lighting. In addition to being environmentally friendly, they last up to 25 times longer than regular incandescent lighting, saving you on your energy bill as well as saving the environment!
How long does digital signage last?
With regular maintenance and care, your new sign will last approximately 11 years or 100,00 hours. You can leave your sign on day and night or turn it off at night. Although the standard rate is 11 years or so, some of our MEGA signs are still around today 15 years later!
What is the viewing range of digital signage?
LED lights are vibrant and clear so even small signs can be viewed from at least 200 feet away. The larger your sign and smaller the pixel pitch, the further away it can be viewed. For example, billboard signs can be viewed from several blocks away. One of our largest and most infamous signs, resides in Cape Canaveral Florida, and is the NASA countdown clock! It’s viewing distance is up to 1 full kilometer away!
You may not require long-distance viewing so select the size and pitch of your sign depending on your design and communication goals.
What size should my digital signage be?
This is entirely up to you! Your sign is built-to-order in any square or rectangular shape you desire. So, create a marketing and communications strategy and order your sign in the size required for your goals.
Billboards and oversized signs are ideal for building exteriors, poster-sized signs are great in lobbies and breakrooms, window signs are often small or midsized, menu boards and price lists are often oversized, and signs that display art and ads are at least mid-sized. What colors does digital signage come in?
The sign itself is black similar to your flat screen TV. Scrolling signs can display single color, tri-color, or full color test and graphics. HD video and image signs are unlimited in the colors that can be displayed. The only other color choice is the frame and base if you order a frame and base.
Our aluminum frames and aluminum or steel mounting poles and pedestals come in 80 colors to match or contrast your building or logo. You can also mount on a brick base or have an engineer design a custom frame, mount, or base.
How much Digital Signage should I purchase?
The choice is yours! Exterior signs are often ordered in 2 or 3 layers including a logo sign, scrolling sign, or HD image and video sign. Or maybe 2 HD image and video signs. Also, consider if your signs need to be 2-sided.
Then decide where to place your interior signs. You may simply replace your current paper signs or add more digital signs.
Do I need to hire a Digital Signage designer?
Maybe. If your messages will be text-only, you may not need a designer. If you already have a marketing or design firm, check to see if they also design digital displays. This will ensure your POP is cohesive. If you don’t have a designer check with your staff as you are sure to have a tech and design-savvy employee who can design your signs for you.
Does Digital Signage work in extreme temperatures?
Yes! Not only do we custom build your sign to size, but to include components that ensure it operates in your local weather. We test our signs for rain, snow, ice, dry heat, humidity, and temperatures ranging from 160 degrees Fahrenheit to -40. Your signs will be safe anywhere in the United States, continental or otherwise.
How is Digital Signage mounted?
Mounting depends on factors such as the size, height, and desired mounting location. Small and midsized indoor signs can be mounted on the wall, hung from the ceiling, placed in the window, or mounted on a custom pedestal. Mid and oversized interior signs may be mounted on a custom pedestal or on the wall, which may require reinforcements or a bracket.
Billboards and oversized digital displays must be mounted on a steel pole or a low and wide brick base. A standard brick base for an oversized sign is 18 feet off the ground and 76 feet wide. Steel poles can be mounted at either 40, 48, 60, 72, or 84 feet off the ground. Custom mounting is an option and signs can also be mounted to walls and building exteriors. Some of our more popular mounting options are brick, wall, pole, column or pedestal.
