Tons of our customers are surprised to find out that there are many kinds of LED signs. There’s no one-size-fits-all option available, but that doesn’t mean that picking the right sign needs to be a hassle. All we have to do is answer some questions first:
- Will your government sign be outside or inside?
- How far will viewers be when they see your sign?
- When people pass by your agency LED sign, how fast will they be moving?
- What kind of content do you want to display on your government LED sign?
- And finally, what’s your budget?
While a lot of people think that bigger and more expensive are always better, that’s not always the case. What’s more important is finding the right sign that perfectly executes whatever messaging plan you have in mind.
Let’s go over some of those factors right now.
Indoor Government Signs Vs. Outdoor Government Signs
LED signs are a great choice for both inside and outside use, but it all depends on the specific sign.
Outdoor signs are designed to display content to people who might be unaware of your location or unsure of whether they want to visit or not. Indoor signs are better for displaying different content designed to target people who made a conscious decision to enter your premises.
Outdoor signs are built to withstand the elements, while indoor signs are usually smaller and can boast a higher resolution. Choosing the location of your sign is the most important step, so think about the type of information you want to convey before you pick.
Government LED Sign Viewing Distance
Viewing distance—the distance between your sign and its viewers—is also really important.
You wouldn’t put a tiny TV in a huge living room, and you also wouldn’t want to use a tiny LED sign to attract visitors from a nearby highway.
For bigger distances, you’ll need a bigger sign. For closer distances (such as with indoor signs), you can get away with a smaller LED sign.
Traffic Type
Are the majority of the people who will be seeing your sign going to be walking, driving, or passing by in some other way?
This is important because of the way our eyes work. When we’re heading down the interstate at 65 mph, our eyes just can’t see the difference between ultra high definition signs and regular LED signs in the distance.
But the opposite holds true—when you use a low-definition sign for people moving slowly or closely to your sign, they’ll be able to pick up on it immediately. Low definition signs for foot traffic are an eyesore and can make delivering your messaging much more difficult.
LED Content Type
LED signs for government can deliver many different kinds of content, with HD signs handling powerful multimedia like videos much easier than standard signs.
But for many agencies, these ultra-HD options aren’t necessary. If you want to display static or scrolling text only, for example, a more basic option could suit you just fine.
Best LED sign for Government – Government Sign Budget
Bigger isn’t always better. If you’re weighing your options and it seems like a cheaper sign will suit your needs just the same as a more expensive one, don’t feel obligated to buy the more expensive sign.
The fact is that ALL LED signs are powerful messaging tools.
